Football Analyst Sutton Faces Off Against Singer Olly Murs in Top Flight Forecasts

The Gunners' ten-match winning run came to an end by Sunderland prior to the global hiatus, however can the English top division frontrunners recover against north London rivals Tottenham this Sunday?

"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this game," remarked football expert Chris Sutton.

"Frank will try to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still manage to win."

The analyst is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League fixtures this term, against AI, readers and a range of guests.

In the twelfth round, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a United fan.

The singer's latest record, the new release, is available on Friday.

Murs is a skilled footballer as well as a successful singer and has been a star of multiple charity football matches down the years - but he is not intending a serious return as a footballer.

"{I actually played in a benefit game the other evening for a mate of mine," he explained. "My team was losing 3-1 when I came off in the second half, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you want!

"I still love football, but I injured my knee a few years ago and it still hasn't fully recovered. I hope I could play more but the uncertainty of the sport means it's too dangerous for me in my career to do it seriously again.

"Plus I am forty-one now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am preparing for the time that my daughter or son chooses to play instead."

The singer and his wife his partner have a young family, Madison and their son, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by taking on the role of their manager.

"I won't push football on our children but I've previously told Amelia that if they happen to get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will probably be managing their weekend football team," he said.

"I watched my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I obviously was involved with a soccer team for a period too.

"My dad coached with us when I was a kid, which is probably where I inherited it. He managed our side for two or three years and had great fun with it. That might be the next step for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

Premier League Forecasts

Saturday, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

The Blues might have to be patient for their star's return from fitness issues but their attack is now stronger with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap both back fit.

I still think this fixture will be quite tight, though. The Clarets are well organised and their sole home defeats so far have been against Liverpool and the Gunners.

This smells of a one-all tie to me, but I am actually going to go with the London side to win narrowly for what would be their third Premier League win in a row.

Sutton's forecast: 1-2

Olly's pick: Chelsea will be too strong. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Cherries have lost their past two matches - although both of them were away - but they got thoroughly beaten by Villa last time out which shocked me.

On the other hand, West Ham won two in a row before the hiatus and, although both of those fixtures were at their stadium, they appear strong again.

The Hammers' sole away victory this campaign came at Nottingham Forest in the summer, when their boss Nuno Espirito Santo was previously Forest manager.

So, what exactly do I go with here - will it be the Hammers continuing their streak under their manager, or the home side responding?

I will go with the Cherries, because I believe what happened against Villa was a anomaly.

Sutton's prediction: 2-0

The guest's prediction: The home team are performing strongly but West Ham have picked up under Nuno. 2-2

The algorithm's pick: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Brentford were considered one of the frontrunners for relegation before the season started, but they have surprised a several observers under their manager and are in good form with three wins in their last four games.

A family member advised me to select Bees forward Igor Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks ago and, guess what, I ignored the advice.

Thiago will likely score again on the weekend but I am nonetheless not going to select him or support the away side at Amex Stadium.

They have not had great success on the travel this season, and Brighton are always strong at home. Brentford will try to hit them on the break but I think Fabian Hurzeler's team carry much more of a danger.

The analyst's prediction: 2-1

The singer's view: This could be one of those games where you expect there is going to be a lot of goals but it in reality proves to be rather tight. 1-1

The computer's outcome: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a massive fixture for Fulham, who have lost five of their last six games.

Fulham have got lots of talent in their squad but it nonetheless seems like they could be dragged into a drop zone battle.

As for Sunderland, well they are the surprise package of the top flight season so far.

The away side's display in the two-all tie with the Gunners last time out was excellent. We have not seen any other team disrupt the Gunners like that this term, and Sunderland were fully competitive for them.

The sensible thing to do to back the visitors here, because they are clearly able of roughing Fulham up too and, the last time they were in west London, they beat Chelsea at the end of last month.

However I am not choose that. Instead, I truly need to continue going against Sunderland with my forecasts. I am taking a lot of responsibility for their positive results because they clearly love to prove me wrong.

Considering the home side's home form, the sole side they have lost to is Arsenal. Their manager's side will be absolutely eager for a good outcome, so I am going to predict they will pick up three points.

Sutton's prediction: 1-0

The guest's choice: I'm aware the visitors are performing strongly and also that the hosts are on a poor run... but Fulham have still been respectable at home this season. 2-0

The algorithm's outlook: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

This is a tough fixture to call. Liverpool have suffered seven of their last ten games in every tournament, but could they be among the sides who profit from the {international break|
