Netflix Selects Perfect Star for Bentham in the Hit Series Third Season
Baroque Works is poised to exert significant influence in the forthcoming season on Netflix of One Piece, although the true confrontation won’t take place until the third season, and a adored, fan-favorite member has recently been selected.
The platform declared this week that the skilled actor will appear in the One Piece upcoming season’s lineup and will portray Bentham. The role can use their power to change into an exact copy of any person they’ve laid a hand on with their right hand. The actor, who is non-binary and prefers they/them pronouns, will play a rendition of that figure reimagined as non-binary, instead of as a drag performer, in the live-action show, as in the source material and cartoon version.
Escola joins multiple recently announced actors set to bring the organization to reality, featuring chief Mr. 0, portrayed by Joe Manganiello, Sophia Anne Caruso as Miss Goldenweek, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who is also part of the cast as King Nefertari Cobra of the fictional land.
Although Bon Clay is a major member of the organization, the character won’t appear until One Piece the third season. Considering season 2 likely to portray the Little Garden storyline, this signals a major departure in the timing of Bon Clay’s introduction, one that could indicate additional alterations to the narrative framework.
The actor’s combination of precise humor and profound feeling makes them a perfect fit for the character. Besides their latest vocal work in the youth-focused cartoon movie Boys Go to Jupiter, they received high praise and multiple awards for writing and starring in the successful stage production Oh Mary!, emphasizing the versatility they’ll bring to one of One Piece’s widely praised characters.
Netflix's live-action One Piece show is set to return for its second season on March 10, 2026.
