Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
Lando Norris has outscored Oscar Piastri at each of the last five race weekends.
The McLaren driver edged out team-mate and championship contender the Australian for the quickest lap in the final moments of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the championship lead from his teammate by just one point after taking the win in Mexico City recently, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by a mere 0.023s.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the leading McLaren for most of the session before sprint qualifying due at 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in the championship fight, lying with a 36-point deficit Norris, finished in P17 as his Red Bull team opted for a alternative strategy.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to crash, albeit lightly, when he rotated at Turn Four during the early running.
Tsunoda lost control over the track edges before spinning across the escape zone, and was fortunate to get away with just a light touch of the barrier.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the final moments of the practice, rotating twice through the high-speed Mergulho corner leading to the final bend on to the pit straight.
The veteran ended the session in P19, just behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were significantly quicker of the remaining drivers, with the German's car P3, over half a second slower than the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was in fourth, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
