Pep Guardiola has admitted experiencing "embarrassment" after an exchange with a TV crew member in the wake of Manchester City's loss away to the Magpies on Saturday.

When the match concluded, a visibly upset Guardiola stepped onto the field and had heated discussions with the referee, Sam Barrott and Magpies midfielder Bruno Guimarães, and also touched the headphones of the camera operator.

"I said sorry," the manager remarked. "I'm humiliated, regretful, when I see it. It's not acceptable. I immediately apologized to the cameraman. That's just me. After 1,000 games I'm far from perfect, I make huge mistakes."

"What is for sure, I stand by my team and club, without a doubt. The reason why I want to defend my team is clear – based on my career to clinch the title we have to do 100 points, high nineties, otherwise we don’t win it."

He wouldn't mind if an opposition manager spoke to his players right after the final whistle. "No - as long as you talk with respect like I always have done, it's fine," he noted, before referencing Barrott. "He was part of it throughout the match, he was involved. Goodness, very much so."

Controversial Decisions

The team felt aggrieved that the officials did not award City a penalty for a Fabian Schär challenge on Phil Foden, while they also questioned Bruno's positioning on Barnes' goal the decisive strike. Pictures published later indicate the Brazilian was onside.

He will manage his century in Europe against Bayer Leverkusen this week. "That's impressive, it means that every season annually," he commented.
