The former Liverpool manager admits a return to lead Liverpool is theoretically possible.

Jurgen Klopp, who departed from Liverpool in 2024, indicated that a future comeback remains something that could happen. Klopp, following a hugely successful near-decade reign which brought continental glory and the Premier League crown in 30 years, has since taken on positions in a global football capacity for Red Bull and in an advisory capacity to Germany's league body.

Supporters’ Hopes and His Frank Comments

They secured the league title in the previous campaign, but many fans who revere Klopp would embrace the idea of his potential comeback. During an extensive chat, he told his interviewer: “I said I won't manage a different club on English soil. So that means should it be the Reds...yes. In theory, it could happen.”

“Being 58, which suggests I could make the decision in a few years, I don’t know. Is a decision required immediately? In that case, I'd stay away. But thank God, no such pressure exists. I can just see what the future brings.”

What Would Lure Him Back?

When asked about what circumstances must arise to tempt his return to management, Klopp admitted he was not instantly drawn toward coming back. “I'm not entirely sure, My present work fulfills me,” he commented. “No longing for management; I don’t miss standing under bad weather through long matches; No need for interviews multiple times weekly or doing numerous chats weekly.

“The locker room isn't missed in that context, yet sharing a meal alongside the squad enjoying conversation, is pleasant. Success was frequent so there was often great spirits at the club. I still have Virgil [Van Dijk’s] laugh ringing in my ears as an instance.”

Commending Arne Slot

He commended for his successor, praising him due to the changes which secured the championship last term. Liverpool have lost four consecutive matches in all competitions following significant transfers, yet he dismissed the suggestion that it might signal the start of a downward turn.

“[Liverpool have] a phenomenal forward like Florian Wirtz, doubters will be silenced if spoken against. A remarkable prospect. [Hugo] Ekitike, incredible player. This is a well-built thoughtfully assembled roster. You don’t have to worry about Liverpool, they'll bounce back.”

Heartfelt Words for the Late Forward

Klopp also spoke emotionally about the death of Jota, whom he brought in in 2020, and its impact for the team. The forward died tragically in a vehicle collision together with his sibling in July.

“How do you replace such an individual? It goes beyond his on-field talent, his personality mattered. I can’t imagine the squad without him in it. I still cannot speak properly regarding this. A devastating blow for all the boys too. Nobody at Liverpool would cite it for poor performances but it is the situation. Being in that space which he filled completely. Handling this individually is not easy. Overwhelming.”
