During an inauguration day in the mayor's office, Zohran Mamdani pledged to “transform” the metropolis, declaring “a different age” and an ambitious commencement to his term.

An Unprecedented Figure

The young political star, who was a virtually unknown state assemblyman, is the city's first Muslim mayor. He also made history by being the first to be take the oath of office using the Qur'an.
